NEW CD 'WONDERFUL' - LIVE AT THE BOTANIQUE |
It all started really well as the album’s working title was “The Wonderful Album”… And it all ends well too, since the finished album is called “Wonderful”! Preceded by the upbeat pop-folk song “Carry on”, which had everyone humming along with the radio, Perry Rose’s latest album has just been released! The album was produced in collaboration with Didier Dessers, mixed at Attic Studio, Brussels, and masterized at Abbey Road Studio, London.
Needless to say « Wonderful » epitomizes Perry’s positive and playful spirit. During the ten years that followed the release of “Hocus Pocus”, his previous studio album, Perry took the time to write and polish his work in order to keep only the best songs.
Let’s hear Perry’s comments about the songs on his new album:
“The idea behind “Wonderful” was to go back to something more “pop” and “radio-friendly”, keeping the organic factor alive. I loved working with Didier. He is extremely talented and has the ability to make machines sound alive! With Didier, almost everything becomes possible. He can magically create a string quartet, a brass band, make percussions with kitchen tools and potato crates, play the banjo, etc.
With this collaboration, I really wished to broaden the musical spectrum. I believe we did it, especially in pieces like “Dreams”, “Lines”, “Answers” and “the Magic Lane”.
Also, I wanted to keep an intimate atmosphere on songs like “The One” - featuring Didier’s beautiful strings -, “Eden”, “River” and “New Dawns”. These pieces gave me an opportunity to explore more purity and depth.
I am happy to hear that some listeners say they recognize Perry Rose’s signature in songs like “Carry On”, “A Beautiful Place”, “She Wants”, and “Your Company”.
My Irish roots still have a subtle influence on my work. I do not deny that; they are always there but in the background.
